Playing Catch-up: September 2014

Well, as usual I let time get away from me and now I've let a whole four months pass without writing a single post! Oh well, that's what catch-ups are for. So as to not drive myself crazy with all the details and sorting, I've decided to write a series of posts, featuring just the highlights of each month that I missed. At the end, I'll do a miscellaneous post with anything I missed. So, with that being said, this post is about September. Our major event: First day of preschool for Rhyla and last first day of preschool for Vash, our trip to the Ren. Fair, our trip to Simmons' Farm, and Picture Day.

Little miss wasn't nervous at all to start school. She knew just what she wanted to wear, smiled all the way to the classroom and made a bunch of friends right off the bat.

Funniest thing her teacher has asked me so far? "Does she ever wear pants?"
I laughed pretty hard while I explained that she was allowed to, but refuses.

It took Vash a while to understand that while he was going to preschool again, he was going to have a different teacher this time. But he warmed up to Mrs. Matchett within days. She teaches him actual sign language, which has been an interest of his for a long time. He loves coming home and showing me the new words he learned. I think my favorite so far has been goat.

Mr. Style. Already he has another little girl chasing him. Meredith's mother made a point of telling me that Vash must really have a personality on him because her daughter talks about him at home a lot. And I laughed because another mother at church told me that her daughter said Vash is so handsome that she wants to marry him. Guess he'll have quite a gaggle to choose from when he comes home from his mission, lol.

As a side note, I think Rhyla was able to be brave for school because she knew her protector would be there for her.

I just adore the friendship between these two. And as another side note, Fischer did pretty well without them. Every now and then he looks at the empty car seats and seems to wonder where they are, but he's always happy to have some mama time to himself.

Onto the Ren. Fair! Since it was so hard to navigate the terrain with the stroller last year, we just had the kids walk while I wore Fischer. My parents, along with Amberly and her cuties, met us there, which always means fun.

We posed for pictures in pictures. Rhyla refused but Vash couldn't wait to be a knight.

We tried our hands at archery again. Rhyla still calls it "being Merida". And if I recall, Vash actually hit a target this time! (Just on the edge of course.)

All Vash wanted for a souvenir this year was this blue crystal. My parents did him one better and brought him a small collection of crystals, this one included.

Rhyla loved admiring the flowers and insisted on smelling them. I think her middle name might effect her taste in flowers;)

Vash was such a good helper and shaded Fischer from the sun while we watched the belly dancers.

Pictures are a bit out of order, but this is Vash demonstrating his awesome form.

This year they added a play ground to the fair. The kids loved it, except that they placed it on a hill, so when you went down the slide you kind of ended up flying off the end.

Vash enjoying a butterfly ride that Rhyla refused to get on.

Trying out my new umbrella souvenir. What can I say? I'm a sucker for useful gifts.

Just love the atmosphere of this place.

Among our fall fun, we decided to go "Apple Bucking" at Simmon's Farm.

Would you look at the size of that pumpkin patch?

Gotta love how unimpressed Rhyla is with the fall festival decorations.

I like to call this next set of pictures, "Nothing happier than the wee ones in a corn pen!"

As a side note, they had a petting zoo there too. Vash enjoyed the goats, Fischer giggled at the piggies, and Rhyla scared the crap out of the chickens as she chased them around.

Now onto the actual bucking. I know what you're thinking; don't you mean apple picking? And I say unto you, nope. We're bronies and pegasisters here and we apple buck.

Gorgeous colors, am I right?

Fischer is just taste testing a few apple for us.

Vash: Master Bucker

Finally, our at home picture day session. Rhyla loved having her hair curled.

Personality shot: Demure Rhyla and "I don't give a darn" Vash.

Photo Bomb!

Fischer isn't hugging Vash; he's trying to steal the trike and has been intercepted!

One more of my posing princess.

Overall, I'd say September was a success. The kids are loving preschool and making lots of new friends. Fischer and I are enjoying some one on one time and getting lots of projects done. And I feel like we made good use of the nice weather while we enjoyed some of the fall offerings. Until next time!
