Our church hosted a chili dinner/ Trunk or Treat night and I was more than thrilled to go because it was a Wednesday night (which meant I didn't have to plan scouts! LOL) and it was another chance for the kids to wear the costumes I spent so much time making.
After dinner, they paraded the kids around to be judged for the costume contest.
Vash won silliest costume as "The Frowning Pumpkin" but he cried when they held him up to show up his outfit. I think he was embarrassed but they gave him a big candy bar and that mildly cheered him up.
It was actually really cold that night, so we had to layer the kids up to keep warm. Rhyla was chilly enough that we ended up trading her wings for the red cloak to be extra warm. She made an awfully cute little red riding hood though.
I just love this picture.
I had planned on taking us trick or treating at the botanical gardens in Pittsburgh, but it actually started to snow that day and Vash woke up sick so we skipped it. Lucky for us, JC Penney decided to do an indoor trick or treat the next day and since Vash was feeling better, we made our way over.
Rhyla technically missed this event because she refused to nap and fell asleep in the car on the way there. My mom carried her bag around though and filled it up for her, so she wouldn't be lacking in treats. Eventually she woke up and we took a short walk so she still had some fun.
Earlier today was Vash's preschool Halloween party. I signed up to be a helper which meant I got to help plan the party and also attend it. (My parents watched Rhyla at home and gave her a toy pony, so she really wasn't missing out on too much. LOL.)
Funny story? The pretty blonde is Cora. Mrs. Somers tells me that she set her sights on Vash and chased him until he caught her, so to speak. Now they're inseparable. They play together, sit together. Notice, they're holding hands. And her mother tells me that she talks about Vash at home ALL THE TIME. Eeek! I'm half honored that my son has made such a good impression on so many people in such a short time, and half mortified at how many little girls will end up bringing "I Like You" cookies to our house in the future when Vash is a teenager and the crush of all who set eye on him. LOL. (Oh Kristen, how do you handle it? I.E. Matt?)
The class. And just for reference Left to right: (Back row; David, Harley, Oliver.) (Front row: Vash, Gavin, Cora, Christian, Charley, Colton.)
For my craft, I had the kids make ghost-est-es. ( Seriously, that's how Vash says it and it's just too cute not to adopt. Even Mrs. Somers says it that way now!)
And Gavin's mother made a Halloween Trail Mix for snack time. (Pretzels, popcorn, candy corn, candy pumpkins, M&M's.) She let me have one because I'm so pregnant and hungry all the time!
Just some more photographic evidence. LOL.
And after dinner, we got ready and hit up our neighborhood for trick or treating. Rhyla let me do her hair and make-up for the occasion. I think she really liked getting to wear some eye shadow, blush, and lip gloss. In fact, I know she liked it because she asked if I would put more on her as soon as I finished!
Side view of the hair and slightly better angle to see the make up.
Vash got a new pair of Mike Wasowski sneakers as he recently exploded out of his size 9 shoes and into 11's. So he insisted on wearing them despite the rain outside.
Just a picture of my two best friends and favorite people in the world. (Of course Craig and Baby Boy are my favorites too... they're just not here to photograph yet.)
Lights, Camera, Action! Rhyla's wings got all droopy in the rain. But they both still had a lot of fun.
After an hour, our sacks were overflowing so we headed home to watch Monsters University and eat some of our spoils. We couldn't wait to change into pajamas either so it was a legit movie night.
The goods. I think it's safe to say our neighbors are too generous. (And you should expect a good amount of that to just miraculously vanish before the kids get a chance to eat it all...)
And last but not least; Vash's candy bar that he won at the Trunk or Treat.
Hope everyone had a spooktacular and safe Halloween!
