January in a Nutshell

Ok. So I'm awful at doing this on a weekly basis now. But the truth is that I've got a billion projects underway and this happens to fall by the wayside. Now, I continue taking pictures and making notes about the cute things the kids do, so I feel like once I finally have time to sit down to write it, I'm not actually missing out on anything. And without any further explanation; January in a Nutshell. (Obviously, I'll get February, March, April, and May as the week goes on.)

Due to the cold, we spent a lot of time indoors: hitting up the mall play areas, going to Sea Base, and cooking yummies.

Guess who's playing peek-a-boo with Pooh bear? Fischer totally thought he was invisible!

Rhyla being a silly goose at Vash's basketball practice.

Every time he makes this face, I feel like I'm in a time machine, looking back at Vash at this age.

Happy to play ball!

My little helper licking a spoon.

Lazy indoor play day.

Someone loves pop tarts, or "Pop Charts" as the older two call them.

Say "Pop Chart!"

When there's a blizzard outside, it's movie day inside. (Like how Pooh bear got to watch too? He carries that bear every where. Like Papa says, "Bears love Fisch.")

Fischer's new hat.

Rhyla got to try on her dance recital costumes.

I can't even stand the cuteness. She melts my heart.

When the roads weren't bad we went to the mall play area. Vash is showing me that he's "Space Mountain tall." (You might be a Disney Geek if: you measure your kids in terms of height requirements!)

Brothers take the slide together.

Vash, Rhyla, and Xochitl trying on some fashionable hats. (Rhyla's got this posing thing down. Vash? Well, he could be a pirate.)

Sweating makes for crazy hairs.

Cabin Fever + energetic boys= Fischer trying to ride Vash like a pony and getting frustrated when he wouldn't move.

Taking a break from cleaning our rooms.

Personal pizzas for lunch!

Rhyla's wearing the special apron Abuelita sent her for Christmas. She puts it on every time she helps me "Make" things. (Any type of cooking/ baking is called "Making.")

Rhyla found our special bears and bemoaned that she wasn't allowed to play with them. (She's got a roomful of toys so no judgement!)

I just love his tired face. He greats us every morning now with "Hi!" and then signs for milk, please.

Guess who lost his first tooth? (Reached right in and pulled it out himself. It'd been wiggling for a while.)

The birthday cake my best friend, Amberly, got me for my birthday! Can I just say that sugared almond cake is the best? She did my nails, then we went out for sushi. I seriously have the most generous friends.

This little dare devil wouldn't stay off the bleachers.

Rhyla sharing a beater with the Fisch.

Bubs licking his beater like a boss. This kid loves making silly faces. Be warned: very few of his pictures from here on out will have a normal, smiling face.

Me and my kiddos on my actual birthday. Rhyla calls this a Picture Selfie.

All crammed into one chair to watch something on the "big Kindle."

Kisses! (No, Pooh didn't shrink; different toy, lol.)

Morning, Chubby cheeks!

A Sea Base day.

Nap Time with Pooh.

Caught these two holding hands as we drove. I love that my kids love each other.

Our attempt as a snow man. The kids named him Olaf, of course.

My big helper shoveling the drive so Me-ma and Pe-pa wouldn't slip.

A book store day. (These happen to be my favorite days!)

Fischer was very upset that the box sets weren't meant for sitting on.

Vash found his first icicle, and insisted it come inside. It didn't last long. (One of Nature's most temperamental weapons.)

Brother snuggles.

Closing thoughts: January was a blast, despite being forced indoors because of the cold. But I feel like we handled it well, and varied our activities enough that the kids didn't totally lose it. Until next time!
