March came in like a lion, and went out like one too! I'm kidding (a little). But honestly, we only had a few lamb days and spring was still holding out on us. (It would continue to evade us through April and part of May as well.)
Due to the continued cold weather, I tried getting the kids into playing games. They took to it fairly well, but I had to buy a few new ones to keep the enthusiasm up. Their favorites include a Disney princess board game, Perfection, Chess (as long as we make up the rules, lol), matching games, indoor Hide-and-Seek, and the Elephant stacking game.
Rhyla is modeling her Elsa braid. She and I have come up with names for all of her favorite hair styles. Some are common like "Low Pony", "Piggy Tails", and "Fishy Tail". But others, we made up. Those include "Cinnamon Twists", "Bravakker Braid", "Rose Braid"( Which I realize is probably a real thing), and "Anna Hair", to name a few.
Vash demonstrating static electricity in action. (Boy, was that fun trying to explain that to my four and five year olds.)
This reminds me of the newer Winnie the Pooh movie, where Balloon gets up on Tigger, and Pooh says, "I think he wants to stick with you."
Fischer is such a good sport when Rhyla uses him as live baby doll.
On the few nice days, we took advantage and went to the park. Sometimes, if the biggins were in preschool, it was just me and the Fisch.
This is a bad angle, but he loves this toy. He will ride this thing around the circuitous route of our house for a good half hour at a time.
Once the snow finally stopped the kids could bundle up and play in the yard (not just the porch). The kids used this as a make-shift wagon so often that Me-ma and Pe-pa buckled and bought them a real wagon. (They figured it would be safer anyway.)
Doesn't he look like such a little man in this coat? I don't even have words for this level of cuteness.
Not sure what Vash is doing with the stick, but at least he's not beating up the trees. Go figure; we buy a house with lots of treats for whacking, and Vash outgrows whacking on "Work Trees."
The mall had the train up again too, so we'd head over there to burn off some energy when it was still too cold to play outside.
Why yes, Rhyla is wearing a princess gown to play in the yard. You're only young once, right?
Fisch is happy (and cold) to be outside!
Vash got to be Star Student one week in preschool. We made a special poster with all of his favorite things, and he got to tell the class about it. I think it was the highlight of his year!
Concentrate.... Concentrate. (Caution: Toddler Developing Fine Motor Skills Up Ahead.)
It happened to be about 19 degrees on the day we went to an Easter Egg hunt. (Hence, the super bundling.) Fischer was so excited, he wouldn't hold still for a picture. Vash and Rhyla have their "Too Cool" poses set.
I was one of the only people there with more than one kid. The bunny didn't know where to put all my munchkins!
They had separate areas for Toddler hunting VS. "Big Kid" hunting, to eliminate any little ones getting plowed down in the excitement. This was great, expect that I couldn't be in two places at once, so I didn't get pictures of the biggins while they were hunting. Once their baskets were full though, we were out of there. It was FREEZING!
Playing a game together after a warm bath. Nothing like hot water to beat the chill!
So, March was cold but fun. We celebrated Saint Patrick's Day with Grandma and Grandpa (eating the traditional fair), went to see Cinderella in the theater, celebrated Easter a bit early, and mastered some games. I'm grateful that my children love each other, and seem to enjoy playing together. I'm grateful that they like to be such big helpers and that they're willing to play games and try new things. Even if the weather outside is frightful, it's always nice in a home filled with love. I hope I can continue to foster the relationships between my kiddos and make our home a place where they're happy and feel at peace.
Until next time...
